Als een van de weinige overgebleven onafhankelijke horlogemakers ter wereld biedt het Zweedse Sjöö Sandström echt iets unieks. Elk uurwerk wordt met de hand gemaakt door ervaren horlogemakers in Stockholm, Zweden, voordat het de meest nauwgezette kwaliteitscontrole ondergaat.
Het bedrijf werd in 1986 opgericht door twee enthousiastelingen die traditioneel vakmanschap wilden combineren met de nieuwste technologie. Er was een tijd dat Zweden bekend stond om zijn expertise op het gebied van klokkenmaken en zelfs Zwitserland voorbijstreefde in de productie van chronografen voor de scheepvaart. Met hun nieuw opgerichte gelijknamige bedrijf wilden Christer Sjöö en Mikael Sandström deze trotse traditie nieuw leven inblazen.
